OPEN Faith: A National Conference by the OPEN Network

October 5, 2016 @ 10:00 am - October 7, 2016 @ 4:00 pm

$299

I’m excited to be presenting and facilitating at OPEN Faith, the gathering hosted by The OPEN Network. This gathering will include people from various streams of faith, seeking to live and believe in just, generous ways for OPEN Faith.  We’ve pulled together over 80 presenters and artists—top thought-leaders and practitioners—who will share their most inspiring ideas and practices at OPEN Faith, exploring new ways of following Jesus—new integrations, conversations, and dreams.

My sharing will take two forms:

The Divine Dance: Harmony & Dissonance in the Flow of Life

In this reading and discussion from my brand-new book with Richard Rohr, I will explore nuclear tests and relationship tests, Donne and Oppenheimer, atomic bonds and theological bombs – getting to the heart of what unites and divides us.

For more, see The Divine Dance online hub (where we’re giving away a variety of amazing digital downloads to each person who pre-orders), and the free bonus chapter I’m giving away to everyone who subscribes!

Practicing the Presence of People: An Experiential Deep-Dive

Who are you? Who is this stranger – or friend – standing next to you?

Dive into fun, highly interactive group exercises that explore the present moment as well as the stories we all bear – getting to know yourself better while at the same time learning to see and appreciate more about everyone you connect with. This space of “practicing the presence of people” becomes a safe space for taking risks, playing outside our comfort zones and discovering more about ourselves than we typically do in our everyday lives. Just as contemplatives and mystics go beyond their ordinary awareness to experience an expanded sense of communion with God, we’ll practice Jesus’ second great commandment and see the Divine show up in our neighbor’s face.

We’ll set a tone that’s equal parts fun and profound, creating a container where anyone willing can go beyond small-talk and social awkwardness. Show up if you want to dig deep into whole-being presence!
OPEN Faith will have a festival-like feel with numerous offerings at any given time, so you can participate at your pace and according to your interest. Christian Theological Seminary is hosting this exciting event, which will use six venues around campus to bring OPEN Faith to life.

Contributors include Jacqui Lewis, Mark Charles, Danny Cortez, Rob Bell, Teresa Pasquale Mateus, Monica Coleman, Jeff Miner, Aaron Wade, Doug Pagitt, Brian McLaren, Alicia Crosby, David Gushee, Stan Mitchell, Mark Tidd, Melissa Greene, Colby Martin, Ryan Phipps, Paula Stone Williams, and many more.

See the full schedule here.

The best way to register for the event is to become a member of the OPEN Network. When you become an individual member, you’ll receive an email with instructions to register for OPEN Faith free of charge. With an organizational membership, you will receive three free registrations. (Become a member now.)

We will have a room block at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Indianapolis North, 3912 Vincennes Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46268. Click here for reservations.

The OPEN Network seeks to make visible, resource the groundswell, create pathways of connection and belonging among existing and emerging churches, individuals, organizations and networks from various streams of faith, including (but not limited to) Non-denominational, Progressive-Evangelical, Post-Evangelical, Evangelical, Charismatic, and Free-church, who wish to live and believe in friendship with God in the Way of Jesus.
