My new friends at 1God.com and Monk for a Month are throwing a festival: U Day – short for Until That Day, the name given to a stirring speech by Rastafarian inspiration Haile Selassie to the United Nations in 1963. Originally hosted by Buddhist monks in Thailand in 2012, U Day returns, this time to beautiful Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Presence will be there in full force!
“The purpose of U DAY is to bring together artists, activists, spiritual leaders and entrepreneurs from across the globe – all who are working for the realization of universal spiritual values – peace, justice, hope, and unity,” their online hub explains. “By coming together with people of good-faith from all walks of life, we support and nurture each other’s endeavors. We draw inspiration and energy from realizing that We Are Many – fighting the good fight, each in their own arenas towards Peace & Progress on our planet.
By coming together to enjoy conscious positive music and to have Interspiritual communion with other like-minded people, we grow stronger, develop new connections and help to add power and momentum to the work at hand.”
February will be here before we know it, and registration is available soon. Stay in touch with the latest on this inspiring global festival by downloading the free ‘digital mixtape’ of Grammy-nominated Reggae artist Pato Banton!
Pato and his wife Antoinette Rootsdawtah, who also played the Wild Goose Festival this year, are headlining U Day! Check out one of their recent collaborations, Light Up The One Luv! with Kwadjo Spiri:
